ISLAMABAD, (TLTP) : Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Tuesday took oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) in Justice Mian Saqib Nisar’s absence who left for UK on a nine-day visit to raise funds for construction of Diamer-Bhasha dams.
Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh administered the oath. The oath-taking ceremony was held in the Supreme Court main building in Islamabad. Justice Gulzar Ahmed Khosa will serve as acting Chief Justice until incumbent CJP Mian Saqib Nisar returns to the country from UK visit.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will attend three events including galas at the Gray Inn Hall on November 21, co-hosted by the legal firm 33 Bedford Row, the Royal Nawaab restaurant on November 22 hosted by Centre for Policy Dimensions and the third event has been organized at Intercontinental London on November 25. Besides, the CJP will attend a fundraising event in Manchester on November 23. During his visit, the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will also address Muslim MPs in British Parliament in addition to attending a ceremony at the UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 25. It has been reported that the CJP will also attend the graduation ceremony of his son Najam Saqib in London. It is pertinent to mention that Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, senior Judge shall also remain abroad.
