According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, PML (N) supported candidates have won both the Senate seats from the Federal Capital Territory.
Mushahid Hussain Syed, supported by PML-N, has been elected as Senator against a technocrat seat, securing 223 votes. He was followed by Raja Muhammad Shakil Abbasi of Pakistan Peoples Party with 64 votes.
Asad Ali Khan Junejo, backed by PML-N, won the general seat from Islamabad getting 214 votes. He was followed by Raja Imran Ashraf of Pakistan Peoples Party with 45 votes. According to unofficial results, Hidayatullah, Shamim Afridi, Hilalur Rehman and Mirza Muhammad Afridi have been elected as Senators against four FATA seats. Each of them secured seven votes.
Out of eleven MNAs from FATA, eight cast their votes in polling to elect the four Senators. State Minister for SAFRON, Ghalib Khan, Shahab-ud-Din and member of PTI Qaisar Jamal boycotted Senate elections. Hidayatullah, Shamim Afridi, Hilalur Rehman and Mirza Muhammad Afridi have been elected as Senators against four FATA seats. Each of them secured seven votes.
In Punjab, eleven PML (N) supported candidates have been elected Senators. The winning candidates are Dr. Asif Kirmani, Dr. Musaddiq Malik, Haroon Akhtar, Rana Maqbool, Shaheen Butt and Zubair Gul against general seats; Ishaq Dar and Hafiz Abdul Karim against two technocrat seats and Saadia Abbasi and Nuzhat Sadiq against two seats reserved for women. PML (N) supported Kamran Michael has been elected against the seat reserved for minorities. PTI leader Ch. Sarwar is the only Senator from Punjab belonging to PTI.
In Sindh, Pakistan Peoples Party has swept the Upper House election by clinching eleven out of twelve seats. The prominent senators declared as elected include the incumbent chairman senate Raza Rabbani, former Law Minister Mola Bux Chandio and Miss Krishna Koli and Quraitulain Mari for reserved seats. PML(F) was the only other party who has secured one senator seat.In Balochistan, mostly independent candidates have won on eleven Senate seats. They are Anwar-ul- Haq Kakar, Ahmed Khan, Sadiq Sanjri , Kauda Babar Askani and Sardar Shafiq Tareen.
Muhammad Akram of National Party and Molvi Faiz Muhammad of JUI (F) have also been declared as successful candidates. Similarly, Tahir Bizenjo has won the election from the platform of National Party while Naseebullah Bazai has won the election in independent capacity. Likewise, Sana Jamali won her seat in an independent capacity while another woman candidate Abida Muhammad Azeem of Pakhtoon Kuwa Milli Awami Party has also been elected for the senate.
And in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf won five seats. The winners include Faisal Javed on General, Mehr Taj Roghani on Women and Azam Swati on Technocrat seats. Pakistan People’s Party won two seats, it includes Bahramand Tangi on General and Robina Khalid on Women seats.
Similarly, Independent candidates Pir Sabir Shah succeeded on General while Dilawar Khan on technocrat seats. Talha Mehmood of JUI(F) also won on General seat. Counting of three remaining Senate General seats is in progress. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) lost many seats as it won only one seat. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won 11 seats while one seat was one by the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F). The elections are considered to be a major setback for the MQM-P which was considered to be the fourth biggest party of Pakistan. The inner disputes in the party have cost them the Senate Elections. Earlier today, MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar had accused PPP of massive horse trading
Meanwhile a pro establishment news agency in a pro ppp propaganda said again Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has proved that it was the real party that represents the poor people of Pakistan by awarding 70% Senate tickets to poor and mediocre candidates while ruling party PML-N gave tickets to wealthy and well-offs in the Senate polls.
PPP awarded Senate tickets to Krishna Kohli and Anwar Lal Din, Robina Khalid, Rukhsana Zuberi, Murtaza Wahab and Maula Bakhsh Chandio and these all belong to either poor or middle class while Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) gave tickets to those who were either involved in criminal cases or belong to affluent class. Murtaza Wahab is the son of deceased ex-MNA Fauzia Wahab while Rukhsana Zuberi and Maula Bakhsh Chandio belong to educated families.
PML-N gave ticket to Khalid Shaheen Butt who is also president PML-N UK chapter where cases of fraud, financial scams, car theft and others were registered against him. Likewise this, Zubair Gull was involved in gang-war and minted billions through organized looted money. Hafiz Abdul Karim, another Senator elect from PML-N ticket was involved in selling fake degrees, besides allegations of his own fake degree.
He has opened a private university in DG Khan, which was not approved by Higher Education Commission (HEC). Thousands students have studied and degrees were conferred by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif but unfortunately the future of these students was now at stake because the degrees conferred to these students were not being recognized.
Another eye-opener was reelection of ex-Finance Minister Ishaq Dar who was facing allegations of money laundering. In the recent Senate elections, he opened fake bank account while the presence of that person was mandatory for opening bank account for appearing before the bank administration, signatures and giving thumb impression. Ishaq Dar is counted a wealthy person.
PML-N awarded ticket to Kamran Michael who is an old loyalist of Nawaz Sharif. He enjoyed minister ship for several times and earned money. He remained Finance Minister Punjab and also Federal Minister for Port and Shipping and has no connection with poor people of Pakistan.
Rana Maqbool was a notorious police officer who faced corruption and heinous crimes. Haroon Akhtar belong to a capitalist family. PML-N even did not award Senate ticket to poor women but ticket was given to sister of the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, which is counted among wealthy families of Pakistan. Only Nuzhat Sadiq, Asif Kirmani and Mussadiq Malik are the luckiest persons who succeeded to get PML-N ticket while being from the middle class.
It is pertinent to mention that Krishna Kohli belonged to much backward area of Nangar Har and she lives in the huts. It was PPP that awarded ticket to Krishna. Now Krishna has been elected as Senator from PPP seat. Other elected Senators from PPP include, Sikandar Mandhero, Ayaz Mehr and Quratulain Murree belong to rich and capitalists families.
PPP’s awarding tickets to poor and middle class families in Senate elections was a clear indicator that it will award tickets to poor workers in the next general elections and after collapse of MQM, now PPP has become the only representative party of poor and depressed people of Pakistan.
