Islamabad: Research Society of International Law (RSIL) on Friday launched guide for civil servants on good decision making under Pakistani law.
The guide comprised of five sections which introduced concepts of administrative law and judicial review, fundamental concepts governing exercise of administrative authority, substantive principles and issues relating to duties and powers of public functionaries, court procedure for judicial review and checklist for responding to judicial review proceedings.
A prominent international lawyer and president of the RSIL Ahmer Bilal Soofi expressed on the occasion that the Guide has been produced in collaboration with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).
While underlining objective of the Guide, Soofi said that it shall reduce chance of future judicial review of administrative decisions by helping public functionaries’ understanding over potential legal risks of their actions.
Fawad Haider of the KAS underscored the importance of efficient and effective governance for the government to execute its work in public interest. Haider expressed that the manual in hand aims at improving the understanding of civil servants of the legal processes involved in judicial review and assists functionaries to determine the legal consequences of their actions.
