Islamabad :Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) based in Kathmandu, Nepal in collaboration with Pakistan Agricultural Research Council organized a meeting of Vice Chancellors of University situated in the Himalayan region of Pakistan.
The meeting program was held at National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), Islamabad. Vice Chancellors and senior faculty members belonging to 13 Pakistani Universities attended the meeting.
Fazal Abbas Maken, Federal Secretary for M/o National Food Security and Research in his inaugural remarks appreciated the efforts of the Consortium in developing an effective, sustainable network of universities in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region, in collaboration with academic, research, knowledge generating and exchange institutions both within and outside the HKH region.
Yusuf Zafar Chairman PARC asked the participating academia to look for opportunities and be part of it to facilitate both education and research in their respective institutions. He assured them that PARC will facilitate all these institutes in whatever their needs are in the area of Agriculture.
Dr. Dvid Molden, Director General International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) told the participants regarding the initiation of HUC forum and its benefits to Educational institutions of the participating countries. During the two days deliberations the Vice Chancellors and their representatives chalked out thematic areas of research for the development of research proposals for the benefit of Mountain specific research.
