ISLAMABAD: A non-partisan association of citizen-leaders of ‘Islamabad City Council’ maiden meeting will be held under the aegis of eminent social scientist and public intellectual and Executive Director of Gallup Pakistan Bilal Ijaz Gilani here on 14 August, the Independence Day of Pakistan.
Islamabad City Council has been established with the slogan ‘Voice of the City’ which basic objective is to recognize and accelerate the efforts of those who are serving for the citizens and playing their role to upgrade the social and infrastructure development of Islamabad- The Beautiful.
Advocate Supreme Court Umer Ijaz Gilani informed that the Islamabad City Council (ICC) is pandering to provide a voice to the people of Islamabad especially those associated with small businesses and professions at the first stage. Besides, the Council is also deliberating to figure out how to give due recognition those who are already engaged in community service.
According to Wikipedia, Greek architect Constantinos Apostolou Doxiadis developed Islamabad’s master plan, in which he divided it into eight zones; administrative, diplomatic enclave, residential areas, educational and industrial sectors, commercial areas, as well as rural and green areas administered by the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation with support from the Capital Development Authority. Islamabad is known for the presence of several parks and forests, including the Margalla Hills National Park and the Shakarparian. It is home to several landmarks, including the country’s flagship Faisal Mosque, which is the world’s fifth-largest mosque. Other prominent landmarks include the Pakistan Monument and Democracy Square.
The Gallup Pakistan ED Bilal Ijaz Gilani has decided to sponsor the event for small entrepreneurs and professions of various walk of life participation who will share their social welfare knowledge for citizens of Islamabad.
